A clean, minimal look
A cluttered page gives people no clarity, and they leave. The store is the public face of the business, so choose a template that looks elegant, with type that is thought through: font, size, line length, and spacing. Use color that represents the brand. A minimal store also tends to load faster.
Navigation that reaches the product
People should be able to get to the item they want simply and quickly. Good navigation improves the visit and supports lead generation. Poor navigation raises the chance they leave.
Product images and descriptions that hold up
Clear, high-resolution images help the path to a purchase. They are what catch the eye. The description should be detailed enough that a customer understands what they are buying.
A short, secure checkout
Keep checkout to about two or three steps, and land on the payment page quickly. The payment itself has to be secure, because it handles confidential customer data.
A layout that works on a phone
Many people shop and complete other transactions on a smartphone. The store needs to work on those devices.
A search bar in the upper right
People use search when they cannot find a product by browsing. Put the bar in the upper right, where it is visible, so they are not hunting for the tool. That small placement improves the visit.
A store earns loyalty when the design makes buying feel straightforward.
